Trying to Get My Life Back

Today I have been trying to get back on top of things. With everyone being sick, we were all kind of in survival mode. Today, after going to the library to start summer reading and going to town to get some material for a project, we began digging out. The kids did a pretty good job of sticking with it and helping me clean up the house so I can do a good deep clean/vacuum/mop job tomorrow. We're almost done. Then I need to fold the laundry that I washed yesterday and we should be set. I'm excited to have a clean house again. I'm realizing that I need to re-vamp my routine now that summer has hit, but that will be for another day. Right now I just need to get it clean. So, with that kind of day, and still more to do tonight, I'm just going to jump straight to the grateful part.

1. I am grateful for a husband that switched the laundry this morning before he left for work and put my last batch in the dryer so when I get around to folding the clothes, they will all be dry and I won't have to find another time to fold.

2. I am grateful that I was able to parallel park in front of the store today when I went to town even though there were two cars parked around the spot. Usually I won't attempt that because I failed my first drivers test by hitting a "car" while parallel parking.

3. I am grateful for snow cones. Especially ones with cream in them.

4. I am grateful for kids that will help me clean up the house and listen when I tell them they can't sit down until we're done. Owen asked at dinner if he could finally sit down.

5. I am grateful for a sister-in-law who will take time with me to explain each step of the project I'm trying to do, even though some should be self-explanatory. I'm grateful that she'll even go over steps a few times.

Today I saw God's hand in my life when I went to check on Mrs. Broody and she had kicked the last egg out of the nest. I've been worried about when to finally admit that it probably won't hatch and take it away from her. Especially after having three eggs hatch after I was willing to give up on them. I'm glad that I don't have to make that decision. I'm glad that she made it for me.

Thanks, J'lene. I am trying it because I realized that I haven't had the best attitude lately and I'm trying to change that. So far it seems to be working. Some days more than others.
