I thought that today was going to be a day to get things done around here. I knew that I had 2 haircut appointments, but the rest of the day I had planned to spend getting the old linoleum up in our upstairs bathroom. Over a year ago, we moved our toilet closer to the tub so eventually we can get a new, bigger vanity. Last summer, we got a piece of linoleum to replace our bathroom floor so we didn't have the hole from the old toilet until we got around to totally remodelling the upstairs bathroom. We still haven't replaced the flooring. That was one goal we had before the 4th of July. So, I really wanted to get it torn up.
I did do two haircuts today. I also spent time with my friend who has had two surgeries in the last two weeks. She was having some complications that they still aren't sure what caused them. I did get to spend about 1/2 hour tearing up flooring (just enough time that it has to be done now). When I got home from the hospital, Nathan had gotten home from work, made a new scraper (I was glad the one I was using ended up being bad and I wasn't just inept), and scraped most of the rest of the flooring up.
Nathan also needed to go pick up a hydraulic pump for his "new" tilt bed trailer he's basically re-building. We decided to make a date of it, went out for ice cream and picked up the pump. It was nice to be away for awhile with just the two of us.
It wasn't the day I thought it was going to be, but it was productive.
1. I am grateful for Jo's help with scraping up the linoleum. She is a hard worker.
2. I am grateful for Gabby and Yani and the time they took with Owen today. I think my kids were just about done with each other this morning and it was nice for them to have a day apart.
3. I am grateful for bacon wrapped potato wedges. Mmmmmmm!! Delicious!!
4. I am grateful for a nurse in the ER that took time to let Jo help him take out my friend's IV. Jo's fascinated with that kind of stuff (definitely gets that one from Nathan!!) and wants to be a nurse. He found that out and helped her feel needed and proud to help out a real nurse. She even got blue gloves to bring home.
5. I am grateful for the EMT's in our area. I trust them all and I'm glad that I can tell friends that might be a little nervous about people they don't know that I totally trust them.
6. I am grateful for progression. I'm grateful to be able to see it in others and to feel it in myself.
7. I am grateful for Coldstone and a sister who put a gift card to there are her "Favorite Thing."
8. I am grateful for new pictures of my nephew.
Today I felt the Spirit so strong. I think I'll keep the experience to myself, but it ended with me trying to discreetly wipe my eyes in my friend's kitchen while trying to pretend to search for something to use as an excuse for going in there so as to not embarass myself too much. I'm grateful for reminders that Heavenly Father loves everyone.
