I went out to check the chickens tonight and the chick feed was out of it's holder and there were shavings all over in the water. I cleaned it all out and went to get the hens and rooster their food. When I came back, all of the babies were out and eating. I counted and only counted 6. I realized the buff baby with the darker head (I'm assuming it was a Rhode Island Red x Buff Orpington) was missing. I had Nathan come take the broody out of the cage and looked all over that cage. I went through all of the fluff and everything. It's gone. I can't imagine where it went. I just hope the mom and the rest of the babies are safe. I have so many horrible scenarios going through my head.
I am still grateful to have babies. I'm glad that I still have 6.
