Getting ready for Owen's birthday

On Friday, I didn't know everyone was in the process of getting sick, so Owen and I made cupcakes to get ready for his birthday. It's fun for me to have the kids more involved in preparing for the celebration as they get older. They have more of an opinion of what they want and it's fun for them to see it come together. Here are some pictures I took of the process.Owen figuring out how to turn on the oven. I was pretty proud of him. I just told him what the button said that he had to push and he found it.

Putting the cupcake papers in.

This is the funniest picture. The pre-heat beep went off on the stove and Owen turned around and said, "Just a minute, oven!" It was hilarious!

Mixing the batter.

Filling the cups.

Taking them out of the pan.

Cupcake Love.

This is his new "I'm so cool" look. Whenever I tell him I want to take a picture of him, this is the look he gives me instead of a smile. I actually ended up frosting the cupcakes because Jo was home by then and the kids never showed up to frost them. I got in trouble for that one because Jo got to frost her own cupcakes for HER birthday, but it was easier overall. I loved that Owen helped me make the cupcakes. We had lots of fun.

Too cute! Zander loves to help me cook too. Help a make a cookie mom - that's what I hear everyday when we get home from the babysitter!

Happy birthday Owen!!

Love the "Joe Cool" face! We sure enjoyed having Owen at our house for a few days. He is a good boy and he and Calvin entertained each other so I didn't go mad!
