So, tonight I have about 15 minutes until I need to go get ready for bed. Nathan and I haven't gone walking for a week and I'm going tomorrow, so I want to be good and rested. Today was the first Thursdays with Yani of the summer. My kids get to go spend the day with Nathan's mom. They LOVE it!! They've been talking about it for weeks now. Yani promised them peanut butter play dough. Zoey even prayed that she'd remember and make peanut butter play dough today. Yani remembered. While they were gone, I'd like to say that I sat around and ate bon bons and watched a sappy chick flick, but really I had an appointment in town, then came home and did three loads of laundry and hung them up on our new clothesline outside. I'm loving how fast everything dries out there. I think things might get dry faster out there than in the dryer. Even when I hang jeans inside, it takes a few days to dry. I hung our jeans out on the clothesline today and they were dry a few hours later.
I'm also working on clearing out our freezer, so tonight we had noodles I'd frozen a while ago with spaghetti sauce over them and a mixture of a few different frozen vegetables. It was interesting, but good. Tomorrow, the plan is to have baked beans. While cleaning out the freezer yesterday, I found two packages of ham hocks. Apparently we don't use them and we still have them from the two pigs we've slaughtered. My mom makes split pea soup, but I can't stand it, so I'm trying something new. I already have the beans soaking. I'm hoping to get rid of quite a bit of stuff out of our freezer.
So, that's pretty much my day.
1. I am grateful that the rain held off until I could get my clothes off of the clothesline today. I should have listened when I felt like I should get them off earlier, but I'm grateful that I became aware of the dark sky in time to get them off of the line.
2. I am grateful that my neighbor's appointment was changed to earlier in the day tomorrow. It works better in my schedule to take her then, even though I did have to change things a little bit. Yesterday afternoon was crazy busy and I wasn't sure how I was going to get everything done. I'm grateful that J'lene is so patient with me when I have to rearrange piano schedules . . .again.
3. I am grateful that I had some time to myself today, even if I did spend it doing laundry. It's nice to be able to focus on only one thing instead of having to do laundry while taking care of kids.
4. I am grateful that my kids have grandparents that they love spending time with. They've loved spending time with both sets of grandparents in the last week. I'm glad that my kids know their grandparents and love them.
5. I am grateful that 4 out of the 5 butterflies that hatched lived to get released. I wish the other one would have made it, but it was fun to release the 4. My kids let the butterflies crawl on their hands until they flew away. They loved it. It was a fun experiment.
