It's been a while

Yep, it's been a while since my last post.  I tried the next day and blogger ate my post.  I decided I was too busy to try and blog, just to have it deleted by blogger.  So, I rebelled for a few days.  I spent a few days cleaning my house, went down to Utah for my nephew's baptism, and carpooled back up with my parents and sister and family.  We all enjoyed another small town 4th of July.  Every time I get to the point that the issues with my house are bugging me and I start to wonder whether or not we should move, the 4th of July comes along and I forget everything except how nice it is to be here on the 4th of July.

I love that we are able to walk around the corner to the flag raising/breakfast, then walk down the block to the booths/craft fair, then sit just outside (or inside if you want) my fence and enjoy the parade, then sit in my backyard and enjoy and intimate gathering for the fireworks.  It's almost like they set them off just for my family, except you can hear the crowd screaming and ooing and ahhing the next block over.  I absolutely LOVE the 4th of July at my house.

This year we even got out our new horse for a little while and put my niece and cutie little autistic nephew up on him.  They did awesome.  So did Mitch.  We've realized that he is such a good horse as long as he can see other horses.  We went to a barbecue at Nathan's parents' house and got to meet his brother's fiance's family.

Yesterday, we relaxed for a lot of the morning.  We woke up late, had a late breakfast, and hung out with Mom and Dad until they left.  Then we went to our PTO movie.  We got Jo's braces fixed (apparently her wire had shifted and was poking her in the cheek) and came home for quiet time and dinner.

Today we washed clothes and I tried out our new clothesline outside for the first time.  Last night we hung up some twine and I realized, as my clothesline sagged so my clothes were almost touching the ground, that I needed a real clothesline.  Nathan hooked me up after work today.  We'll see how it works tomorrow.  My goal is to wash two batches a day.  Today they dried really fast.  And they didn't even get bird poop on them (that was my biggest concern about hanging them outside).

We also went to story time at the library and got new books.  This afternoon, I cut my first hair in my salon.  I moved my chairs into there last Friday as I cleaned.  I figured that they were taking up space wherever they were, so they might as well be in the salon.  I don't have plumbing in, so no sink, and my cabinets still need to be put in, but I can cut hair as easily there as I can in my dining room.  As soon as I get my mirror up, it will be even nicer.  Today I realized that we really need to get all of the outlets in before it will be really nice to cut hair in.  Luckily my outlet by my dryer chair barely reached the chair.  I also need to get my own broom, dustpan, and garbage can down there.  But, all in all, it was nice to be using my salon.

Then the kids just played and played downstairs.  I cleaned out both of my freezers, so I can know what is in them.  It was nice to consolidate everything.  It was also nice to get it done.

Today we had a meeting with the new missionaries.  They whitewashed our area last transfer.  We have a greenie and his trainer.  They both seem excited to work.  They are doing a fireside for the youth on Sunday and it sounds like they have some fun ideas that will keep their attention, but still teach them about missionary work.

I feel much better when I blog because all of the things I'm grateful for are in my mind.  I find myself thinking throughout the day what I'm grateful for, and even if I forget about every little thing by the time I blog, I'm grateful for a minute or two.  So, tonight, I'm grateful. . .

1.  I am grateful to live in a small town that has an awesome 4th of July celebration.

2.  I am grateful that I was able to spend the weekend with family, both in Utah and here.

3.  I am grateful to live in a free country and I'm grateful for the men and women who have given their lives so we can be free.

4.  I am grateful that I got my freezers cleaned out.  Now I'm hoping to be able to rotate the food that is in them and use it up.

5.  I am grateful that I found time to blog tonight.
