I feel like all of my posts could be titled Crazy Day and that would about describe my life. This morning, all I wanted to do was clean my house. It was definitely showing the effects of a weekend where we had a ton going on and just came in and dropped things before going off to our next adventure. Instead, I went to my meeting planning Heritage Day. We had a lot to talk about and some people decided that we needed to talk about things 3 or 4 times, so my meeting ended up being 3 hours. I had just enough time to come home, throw some lunch at the kids, call a neighbor I was concerned about, then run back out the door to go quilting.
I ended up talking to the lady in charge of quilting and taking a tour of her house. I didn't get back home until 3:30. Then, I returned some phone calls. My allergies were driving me nuts. They've been so much worse this year. It seems like my medicine's not working very well, but I'm wondering if it's that it's working, my allergies are just worse. Today, I wanted to scratch my eyes out. But instead I laid down and took about a 15 minute nap. I should have been cleaning, but it actually helped my allergies and I was able to get quite a bit done tonight.
After dinner, we went to the temple visitors center and saw their display of pioneer paintings for family home evening. My kids really enjoyed it, especially Jo. The display was really good, and my kids enjoyed all of the other fun stuff at the visitors center. Nathan bought us doughnuts and oranges on the way home for treats. It makes me laugh that we finished the oranges, but not the doughnuts. Owen actually wanted more oranges, but gave away his doughnuts. The elders that just left used to tease us about making our kids eat sweets and having to take away healthy stuff. Honestly, one day Jo said she wanted salad for dessert instead of whatever we were having. That's just the way they are.
Tonight,
1. I am grateful for a husband that will use his allowance to buy us treats for FHE.
2. I am grateful for my white "daisies" that Nathan and Owen weeded out of my raspberries on Saturday, brought inside, and put in a vase. Owen even tied a cute ribbon around the vase. They are beautiful and they make me smile whenever I see them.
3. I am grateful that we were able to go down to the visitors center. I am grateful that the kids were able to learn more about the pioneers.
4. I am grateful that I was able to go to my meeting. I do like volunteering in the community and getting to know the people here. I love Heritage Day and I get excited for it every year.
5. I am grateful that Nathan's plant sent Little Steamers home with Nathan. It made for a quick, easy dinner when I had inadvertently taken a nap and we needed to get out the door quickly.
