Here is the dining room wall before we started. We haven't had a full wall here for over 7 years. It started with a few holes to fix a pipe, then the shower needed fixing, finally we just took the whole wall down in preparation for a new wall that didn't come as quickly as we wanted.
Here's the before of the bathroom. Notice the lovely white cabinet complimented by the stained wood light bar. You can also see the outlet that needed to be moved. We've always had only half an outlet in our bathroom. The other half is a switch for the light bar. One of the goals is to have a lot more outlets and move the switch over by the door.
Another before picture.
We took more of the wall away in the family room to expose the studs and cut the hole big enough for the mirror in the bathroom. I was cutting the hole in the bathroom, so I didn't get pictures of that.
The hole from the bathroom side. No, I didn't mess up at the top. That's the rest of the hole from the light bar. The new mirror is quite a bit bigger and we were able to move it up quite a bit. Now Nathan can see all of his head and I can actually put my heels on before I do my hair.
Nathan cutting down the studs to make room for the supports.
The supports put in. It was kind of tricky to work around the new vent going up the wall, but Nathan figured it out.
The dining room wall after the new mirror is put in. Once again, no pictures of the process. We were both busy.
And the final look of the new bathroom. You can see all of my new outlets and my new switch in the mirror. I have separate switches for the light and the fan, plus a switch by the door for my new light bar.
Another after shot.
And one more. Here you can see how funny it looks with our tiny vanity, but hopefully someday we'll be able to get a bigger vanity and it will all look better.
I love my new bathroom!! I love how it looks recessed. Nathan and I have both commented on how much bigger our bathroom looks. And I don't bump my head on it anymore when I wash my face.
