The salon wall where I'm going to have my station (see my lightboxes up by the ceiling?) and the salon door. Have I mentioned lately that I LOVE my door!?!?!
The wall between the washroom and the salon.
Up close of the texture.
One more up close.
So, on Friday and Saturday, Matt put down a base coat and topcoat of concrete. Yesterday, he was going to stain, but it snowed and we're still having issues with water coming in certain areas of our basement. Apparently, if you stain and water gets on it before it's fully cured, it leaves a funky puddle, so we decided not to stain. He touched up a few places and put up plastic to protect the walls from the acid stain. Hopefully in the next few days we'll be able to dry out enough to get the stain down.
I can't walk downstairs, so my pictures during this process will be taken from about this angle. This is looking into my playroom from the top step of my family room. This shows the two layers of concrete and the plastic on the walls. We're ready to stain.
And the view straight on. Looking through my salon door. The door to the washroom is off to the left of the salon door.
Seeing my basement with basically white walls and white floors reminds me of a hospital or something. It makes me glad that I went with a darker color on the floors and reinforces my resolve to put colors on the walls. Last picture. Matt made a sample of the different colors of flooring we were deciding between. I am going with the one on the upper left. The more I look at it, the more I'm liking it.

Looks great! Can't wait to see the finished product. Thanks for sharing the process. I wish we had done the acid wash on our basement floor. I like your choice.
I just love that you still have that couch. :) My childhood is calling...
Thanks,C. I'm really excited about our floor. I'm loving watching it unfold. The same guy is also going to do stained concrete countertops in my salon.
Kylie, we love the couch. Any time you need to come visit, feel free.
