Last night, I went out to check the chickens. Nathan came out behind me to feed the horses and asked me if one of my chickens was up on the top of the run. I went and looked and it definitely didn't look like any of my chickens, but it was a chicken. We scared it off the run and Gus's kennel and finally caught it. We put it in the coop with my chickens and realized that it was quite a bit smaller than my other chickens. It's comb and wattle aren't as red, so I'm thinking that it's younger. With the green legs, I'm thinking it's an Easter Egger, but it can fly pretty well. It also doesn't sound exactly like a chicken. I'm thinking it's just been wild for a little while. I was afraid that my other chickens wouldn't be nice to it, but I didn't want to just let it go, either. I figured it was safer with my chickens than outside, so we left it there. I just checked on it and it seems to be taking care of itself rather well. I'm excited. I figure if someone comes looking for a chicken, I'll give it back, but until then, I'll take care of it. What's one more chicken, anyway.
