Tuesday, a backhoe came out and dug up all of the sod. My kids are so funny whenever they see a tractor. Jo saw this out in the front yard and asked about the fronthoe. Then she looked closer and said, "Oh, nope! That's a backhoe!" Nathan loved it.

More Remodel Pictures
More stuff has been happening this week. I've decided that I'm good as long as I see some progress each week. This week, I haven't done a whole lot on the house, but a lot has been done. On Monday, Nathan IM'd me that he found some light fixtures that might work for us in the bathroom. He'd found them on craigslist (a lifesaver with this remodel!!). They were new, but the price was quite a bit better. I went out and looked at them and decided to get all three of the matching ones that they had. The idea is that I'm going to put one in my bathroom and two over the mirror in my salon. I have really learned how important good lighting is in a salon. Not just for me, but for the people sitting in my chair. So, here is a picture of one of the light fixtures that we bought. I'm hoping they look good.
Also, on Monday, we had some guys show up to scope out the area for a sidewalk and steps going up to my porch. They haven't been able to do anything because it was, first too cold, then too wet. We're supposed to have some dry warm days for the next few days, so they set to work.

Here's a better picture. I finally went outside, even though I don't want the guys to feel like they are on display.
And one more.
Today, they came and put up forms for the steps and sidewalk. No, my house and porch are not tilted, just the camera is.
Jo kept wanting me to get a picture of her jumping for joy that we were getting a new sidewalk and steps. We couldn't coordinate very well. But this is a better view of the whole scene.
Here is our new vent going up the wall in our dining room. This was one of the two final things that had to be done so I could use my washer and dryer downstairs.
Looking back, I don't think I've ever put up a picture of the stuff I got for my salon, so here it is. It was another fun find. A guy that Nathan knows through his work had a wife who did hair. She had redone all of her stuff. She developed a reaction to some chemicals, so decided to do something else. She sold all of her stuff to me. It's old, but I really like it. I love the feet on the dryer chairs. And I love that it's not what everyone else has.
Along with the plumbing, we moved our toilet upstairs. Ever since we moved in, it's bugged me that we had so much space between our toilet and our tub. The space was completely unusable. So, since we were redoing a lot of the plumbing anyway, we decided to go ahead and move the toilet now in preparation for remodelling the bathroom upstairs someday.
Here you can see where the old toilet was, and where the new toilet is. Sorry about the mess. We ARE remodelling.
And one more. In this one, you can see how small our vanity is. I still can't understand why they put the toilet so far away from the tub and put in such a small vanity. I would much rather have less room for the toilet and a bigger vanity that you can actually put stuff in. I figure that there is a reason for the code, so now it is according to code and someday we can have a bigger vanity. For now, we are planning on covering the hole with plywood and hopefully getting a cheap piece of flooring to cover the floor with for now.
On Monday, we also got our sheetrock delivered. The guy who is doing our sheetrock found out that the price is going up, so he had us get it now.
And this is how my storage room looks after making room for the sheetrock. In the back you can see what might become my station. I love that it has feet that match the dryer chairs, but I'm not sure if it will work in my salon.
This is the network box that Nathan picked up at an auction. He is planning on putting all kinds of wires all throughout the house while we have everything open. This will be where everything is routed back to.
My washer and dryer, finally hooked up with water, power, and a hose for the dryer. It was SO nice to finally be able to do laundry at my house. I'm excited that things are being put back together now instead of just torn apart.
This is the other thing that had to be hooked up before we could use the washer and dryer. This is our sump pump all hooked together and working.

Yay!! I am so excited that it is all coming together! And I am also excited that I FINALLY got to see your very yellow bathroom. It is looking good!
Hahaha! I forgot that you hadn't seen my bathroom, yet. Isn't it bright. I love it!! It's hard to be grumpy when that bright color starts your day. I do manage it sometimes, but . . .
